Sip

Privacy

Last updated 2026-10-11

The short version. There is no account or server that stores your drink history. What you enter stays on your iPhone. The free version shows adverts from Google. Optional recommendations for our other apps also use a connection and aggregate view and open counts. Purchases use Apple’s service. Sip Premium removes the Google adverts.

What Sip stores, and where

Sip keeps your daily goal, the times you get up and go to bed, the glasses you use and the amounts you record. All of it is written to a file inside the app on your iPhone. None of it is sent to us, and none of it is handed to the advertising kit described below.

If you have iCloud Backup switched on, that file is part of your ordinary iPhone backup, the same as any other app's data. That backup is between you and Apple; we cannot read it.

What Sip does not do

Advertising in the free version

The free version of Sip shows advertising. There is a banner at the bottom of the My week screen and at the bottom of the Settings screen. There is never a banner on the home screen, which is where you record a drink. A full screen advert can appear only when you reach your daily goal, and only once the confirmation has faded again. Sip Premium removes the advertising entirely.

Three limits hold at the same time for a full screen advert. If any one of them is not met, no advert is shown:

The adverts are delivered by the Google Mobile Ads SDK. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, for users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and Google LLC elsewhere. To fill an advert slot, Google receives technical data from the device such as an IP address, device and operating system characteristics and, if you allow it, an advertising identifier.

Data typeProcessed by the appReaches a third party
Your goal, times, glasses and the amounts you record Written to your iPhone only No. It is never passed to the advertising kit or to anyone else
Advertising identifier (IDFA) Only if you allow it in the App Tracking Transparency prompt Google, for advertising, and only with your permission
Technical request data for an advert Sent by Google's kit when an advert is loaded Google, on the basis of your consent
Contact details, location, purchase history No No

Your consent comes first. Before the advertising kit is started at all, the app shows Google's User Messaging Platform consent form, and iOS then asks its own App Tracking Transparency question. Only after that does any advert load. The legal basis is your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, and you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future: open Settings inside the app and tap Ad privacy. That entry appears whenever the consent form requires it. Buying Sip Premium removes the advertising altogether.

Saying no to the tracking question changes nothing about how Sip works. The adverts are simply chosen less specifically. If you already have Sip Premium, none of this runs at all: no consent form, no tracking question and no advertising kit.

Google's own processing is described at policies.google.com/privacy and, for advertising specifically, at business.safety.google/privacy. Apart from Google's advertising kit and its consent form, Sip contains no other third party kit.

Recommendations for our other apps

In Settings, the app can fetch up to three recommendations for our other apps. The choices depend on the app you are using, App Store availability and iOS compatibility, not on your personal data or activity inside the app. App icons load from Apple’s image servers. Opening a recommendation takes you to the App Store with a campaign label identifying the source app and placement, never a person.

We count qualified views and successful opens in aggregate. Our service stores daily counts with the source app, recommended app, placement, configuration revision and optional presentation variant. It does not store an account, advertising identifier, device identifier, persistent visitor identifier or personal profile, and it does not receive the app’s private content. These counts cannot tell us who installed an app.

The recommendation service is hosted by Supabase. Network requests necessarily expose an IP address to the hosting provider for delivery and security; our aggregate counter does not store it. See Supabase’s privacy policy. Apple processes icon requests and App Store visits under Apple’s privacy policy.

Purchases

If you buy Sip Premium, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple. Apple tells the app whether a valid purchase exists; it does not tell us who you are, and we never see your name, your email address or your payment details. Apple's own privacy policy covers that transaction.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled by your iPhone itself. The times are worked out on the device and handed to iOS. No reminder is ever sent from a server, and no reminder leaves your iPhone.

This website

These pages use Vercel Web Analytics. It is cookieless: it sets no cookie and no identifier on your device, and it builds no profile of you. It counts page views and taps on the App Store button, together with the page you were on and the place of that button on the page. The purpose is to see which pages actually help somebody find the app; the legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing that, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Nothing is worked out about you personally, and nothing from it is passed to anybody else.

The service is provided by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA, which also hosts these pages. Its privacy policy is at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy. As with any web server, a request for a page is logged so that the page can be delivered and the site kept secure and stable.

Children

Sip is not directed at children. Nothing you record in the app is collected by us, whatever your age.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your iPhone. We hold no copy, because we never received one, so there is nothing to request or erase from us. What Google receives in order to fill an advert is covered by Google's own privacy policy, linked above; withdrawing your consent stops it going forward.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the date above changes with it.
